Childbirth Preparation Bundle (2 x 1.5hr)
This bundle is meant for those wanting combined preparation for childbirth and postpartum. These sessions will cover stages of labor and birthing, postpartum specifics and birth goals. Most childbirth classes focus entirely on labor and delivery leaving you unprepared for the postpartum recovery. These sessions will prepare you to navigate labor, delivery and postpartum confidently. This class can also be catered to couples with focus on the support person’s role throughout childbirth and postpartum. These sessions feature over 3 hours of face-to-face time with a midwife who has done around 1000 births and spent years helping women in the postpartum time frame! Class can be held in person or by zoom!
Vaginal Birth after Cesarean (VBAC) (suggested 1hr session)
Vaginal Birth after Cesarean (VBAC) is an option for most women that have had one prior c-section. There are many things to consider when deciding whether to have a TOLAC (trial of labor after c-section) vs a scheduled repeat c-section. It is very difficult to cover all aspects of counseling regarding this decision within the confines of an office visit. This session will cover in depth VBAC vs repeat c-section. While this class cannot replace individual counseling with your care provider, it can give you the information you need to approach this conversation with your care provider confidently.
Labor, Delivery & Postpartum Confidence Booster (suggested 1hr session)
Perhaps, you have been through childbirth before, but it has been “years” since your last delivery. Perhaps, things didn’t go as planned and you are hoping for a different experience this time. Perhaps, you are headed into this journey solo and want a class that is understanding of this. If you fit one of the above scenarios than this individualized 1.5hr class is for you!
Planned C-section Preparation (suggested 1hr)
When you know you are going to have a c-section, a full labor and delivery class will feel filled with non-relatable topics. Help relieve your anxiety regarding delivery and postpartum with information specific to a c-section delivery.
Support Person Preparation
Did you know that approximately 13% of expectant fathers experience a pathological and debilitating fear of childbirth? What’s even more interesting is this doesn’t necessarily improve after they attend a delivery of a baby. This is a silent suffering that can be detrimental to the family dynamic. Studies have suggested that giving expectant fathers a space to address their fears and validate their feelings regarding childbirth can help combat this. While studies have not adequately explored a broader definition of support person and their experiences with childbirth, it is likely the same, regardless of gender or relationship.
This one-on-one class is catered to the birthing support person. Being a support person is a tough job! This class focuses on how you can best support your loved one during labor, delivery and postpartum. We will address common fears, do’s and don’ts and allow opportunity for questions that wouldn’t be asked if the pregnant loved ones were in attendance. Whether this is going to be your first time supporting your partner during delivery or the 5th time, this class will give you the confidence and knowledge you need to help your loved one through this major life transition.
